The Joy of making-it-up-as-you-go-along

I just wanted to record how much fun I had last night being part of a 'Maestro' improvisational theatre show. I didn't think I'd be bothered by the competitive aspect, but I was, simply because I wanted lots of lots of goes and only got two. From the moment when I marched on stage and started sawing lumps off of an imaginary piece of wood I was in a state of bliss. 'Again, again.' Was all that was running through my tiny little mind.
But it *almost* didn't matter because I had nearly as much fun watching. Many thanks go to Tom Salinsky and Alex MacLaren from the spontaneity shop for arranging the evening and making sure that it went off so smoothly. I have to say that I didn't agree with your intervention in one scene though. When Beth said she had HIV I don't think it did any good at all to try to downgrade it to a 'PG' STD like chlamydia. Not that it did anything to stop her, since she came straight back with 'you killed my ovaries.' And it definitely back-fired to say that Beth was 'on her own' with the score for that scene. The audience gave it a 5 recognising Beth as the deranged foul-mouthed genius that she is. In a way as soon as she set off down that path, they knew we were all headed for the chocolate starfish.
